COVID-19 INFORMATION FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS
** Updated 8/5/2021 **
Dear Cardinal Family,
As the new school year approaches, we once again find ourselves amidst rising numbers of COVID cases. The more alarming part of it this year is that our young children appear to be more at risk with the Delta variant. This year the Catholic Diocese of Jackson is allowing pastors/administrators to make the decision regarding masks for students/staff. Our Pastor, Father John Bohn, and I are in agreement that at this time universal masking at St. Richard School should be required, most especially because the children at our school are not eligible for the vaccine. I assure you this situation continues to be closely monitored and we will continue to make updates to our guidelines as conditions change.
Another important update I want to share with you is that we are not planning to offer the virtual option at this time. We feel it is best to have our children in-person at school unless under the advice of their medical provider. We will, however, be prepared with a distance learning plan should students/staff be required to quarantine due to Covid exposure.
A letter and updated guidelines from Bishop Kopacz and the Office of Catholic Education is attached, as well as, the updated guidelines for St Richard School. At times, rules and regulations like these can be frustrating. Please keep in mind they are developed and implemented to keep our students and school employees safe. This is our top priority. Stay the course with us; stay positive with us. Look how far we have come in the past year and a half. We are definitely stronger together!
God bless and Go Cardinals!
Mrs. Jennifer David
