IGIVE CATHOLIC

Celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #iGiveCatholic is an online giving day that kicks off the charitable season and brings the Catholic community together to give thanks and give back on GivingTuesday, a global day of giving. This online giving event provides our school, and nonprofits in our diocese (and dioceses across the country!) the ability to connect with current donors and establish relationships with new ones. It is also an opportunity for Catholics to affirm our faith as disciples of Jesus Christ by sharing our gifts out of love for God and for one another.

#iGiveCatholic Advanced Giving Opens November 17th, with Giving Tuesday on December 2nd, marking the final day to contribute.

We invite you to consider getting involved by donating today or by providing a matching or challenging gift. Last year’s Challenge Gift of $15,000 made an incredible impact on our 2024 #iGC fundraiser. Will you help us to do the same this year? More information can be found below.

Ensuring the Highest Standard of Water Safety at St. Richard School

This year, for iGive Catholic, Saint Richard School is raising funds for a new Dual Water Filtration System.

At St. Richard School, the health and safety of our students are our top priorities. While our current water system already provides filtered water at select stations, we’re taking proactive steps to go even further. Like many in Jackson, MS, our school continues to navigate the challenges of aging infrastructure and citywide water quality concerns.

To ensure consistent protection throughout our campus, we are raising $45,000 to install a Whole School Dual Water Filtration System. This will be a comprehensive solution designed to safeguard every drop of water used in our building. This advanced system will add a second layer of filtration to enhance efficiency and ensure the continued safety, purity, and clarity of the water our students, staff, and visitors rely on each day. Once installed, this new system will cover:

  • All water fountains — no limitations
  • Kitchen water for cooking and cleaning
  • Hand washing stations throughout the school
  • Water hoses and sprinkler systems
  • Any water used anywhere in the building

This preventative measure adds an extra layer of protection, giving parents, teachers, and students peace of mind while fostering a safe, thriving learning environment for all.

News Articles:

From August 2014 through July 2022, Jackson issued more than 1,500 boil-water notices, according to city records in the possession of MSDH, including at least nine notices that affected everyone in the city.

Mississippi’s failure to enforce the Safe Drinking Water Act contributed to the 2022 Jackson water crisis, leaving 150,000 residents without drinking water, according to a new EPA report.

During the past month, the water system experienced a seasonal increase in manganese—a naturally occurring mineral—which caused discolored water in some areas of the City. Elevated manganese levels have been a recurring issue since the construction of the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
