SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

"The Son of God did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many (MK 10:45).”

With these words, our Lord illustrates for us the commitment to serving others that we are called to strive for as His disciples. This commitment to service is one that St. Richard Catholic School tirelessly attempts to instill in all the students entrusted to us. It is not just our students who are called to service. Our students' families, especially parents, are also called to serve our school community and volunteer their time in keeping with our mission. Tuition and fees, although vital to our school’s continued success, are only the starting point for providing a quality, Catholic school education to your children. As we move through our school year, please remember your commitment to volunteering/serving with St. Richard sets a positive example for our children and gives you firsthand involvement in what we can accomplish as a thriving school community working together. Each family is asked to volunteer 10 hours throughout the year.  Many opportunities are available to help from staffing tables at the annual CardinalFest Family Festival or serving on a committee for the yearly Krewe de Cardinal Mardi Gras Ball.  Families will be notified of various volunteer opportunities via email with sign-up links.

Each month, Saint Richard Catholic School has a SERVICE PROJECT OF THE MONTH.  We genuinely believe that teaching our students to serve others is a life lesson that will endure long after they leave our nest.  Our families can give to many different charitable causes throughout the year ranging from food pantries and our adopted nursing home to our diocesan seminarians and newborn babies.
