Parish Subsidy Information
A message from Fr. Joe:
Those families who are seeking the parish subsidy for their children attending our local Catholic schools must have their request for subsidy turned in to the parish office (1242 Lynwood Dr) no later than MARCH 31, 2025. No exceptions.
To be eligible for the subsidy:
You must be a registered member of St. Richard (18 months or more). If you are new to the area, then please register with the parish as soon as possible. Someone may contact you for further information.
If you grew up at St. Richard and are now an adult (over 21) then your registration must be updated if you are still listed as a child under your parents’ name.
Grandparents who are not legal guardians are not considered to be parents or eligible for the subsidy.
You must contribute to the support of the Parish through regular use of the envelope system or online giving. Contributions to charities outside of the parish operating expenses do not count as support to the parish. For example, giving to the Saltillo Mission or St. Vincent de Paul are not supporting the parish. We rely on your giving to provide the services and ministries we have in the local church.
Some people tithe 10% of their income to the parish which is generous. Some of the local area churches require the full amount of the subsidy in offertory as a 1:1 exchange. If you are not able to make that commitment, consider 10% of the subsidy you are requesting at least.
If you are unable to do that, then you may do so through identifiable service to the parish and/or school.
You must be a practicing Catholic and be responsible to the obligations of the Faith including attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.
Remember, the money you are asking for in subsidy does not come from a grant or outside source. It is from people who give to St. Richard in good faith. The parish has no obligation to subsidize you or your family.
You may be denied subsidy if none or some of the prerequisites are not met. Your choice for Catholic school is predicated on your desire to see to it your child is educated in the Catholic tradition. You may have to make certain sacrifices to see that end is met. The subsidy is an aid and a help, not an entitlement.
