SAINT RICHARD HOUSE SYSTEM

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” -Saint Teresa of Calcutta

It has long been a tradition of Saint Richard Catholic School to build a sense of family and community among our students and staff. One of the ways we accomplish this is through our established HOUSE SYSTEM named after religious saints. Saint Richard originated the HOUSE SYSTEM to encourage camaraderie among every age group.

Our House System is a unified, structured system through which students grow in scholarship, leadership, discipleship, and citizenship within, both, our school community, and the greater community in which we serve.  Each year, all new students, K5-6th grade, and faculty, are "sorted" into the House of Bosco, Calcutta, de Porres, and Liseux.

Our HOUSES meet regularly throughout the year to complete team building activities and foster friendships. Every child belongs to a House and siblings are housed together to create a stronger family bond. Houses compete together in friendly school competitions and at the annual Field Day. The 6th Graders are the leaders of the Houses and mentors to their younger House mates. The House System is also a way for staff to recognize positive behavior and kind deeds by giving points to students through an electronic app. Students see updates in real time on screens throughout the hallways and parents can receive notifications to celebrate their child's achievements and feel more connected to the Houses.
