Our fifth graders completed a scavenger hunt today by lying on their backs to paint their own masterpieces, imitating one of the most famous works by renown Italian Renaissance artist, Michelangelo. This activity accompanied the students' study of the Newbery Medal winning novel, The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg. We love the creativity with which Mrs. Simmons integrates the arts into her curriculum!
